Around the World

An Around the World is a sequence of 3 or more discs that are delivered to the dog in a circular pattern around the handler. Around the World's are judged on the quality, placement and difficulty of the throw and on the leap of the dog on the catch. Distance and style are also judge-able criteria.

Bitework

Bitework is a drill consisting of biting and dropping targets on cue. Also known as tugging.

Butterfly

A Butterfly is a disc that when thrown flutters end over end similar to how a coin is flipped.

Capture

Capturing is a dog training term that describes a situation in which the handler reinforces a behavior that the dog offers on it's own. Capturing is often used in conjunction with Shaping or Freeshaping and can be synonymous to those terms.

Collection

Collection is the act of preparing for a leap. Proper collection is important for safe and effective leaping.

Fidget

Fidgets are disc tricks that start and end in the hand of the thrower. They are used in order to add style to a players game and to look cool.

Fish

A Fish is a move in which the handler throws a disc to his or her dog to catch and removes the disc before the dog lands back on the ground.

Flank

The Flank is a position where the dog out to the side of the handler moving parallel to the handler. It is essentially Heel or Side position at a distance.

Flatwork

Flatwork is the stuff that goes on between catching discs in a game of freestyle. Similar to the flatwork concept in Agility, Flatwork in Disc Dogging consists of the application and management of Set Up Moves, Crosses, Outruns, and other team movement.

Flip

A Flip is a Freestyle trick where the dog performs an acrobatic flip type maneuver in order to catch a disc. Flips are judged on style, height, difficulty of throw, difficulty of catch and safety.

Floater

A Floater is a disc that hovers in the air for the dog to catch. Some disc doggers use the term Floater only for a vertical toss used for vaults and overs, some use it to include any disc that is thrown with the intent to hover and to elicit a jump from the dog.

Luring

Luring is a dog training technique where the handler uses something the dog wants (food or toy) to move the dog into a desired behavior.
